Teen Actor Thomas Kasp Says He Has A Very Special
Way Of Preparing For Hollywood Casting Calls
Hollywood, CA - - Teen actor Thomas Kasp, who counts among his favorite performers Carol Burnett, John Ritter (Three’s Company) and the late Don Knotts (Andy Griffith Show), hardly ever gets nervous anymore when he’s auditioning in Hollywood.
“I come prepared,” said Thomas. “I get to know everything I can about the role, the story, a product and the director before I come in to read for the part. That way, I feel like I am ready for anything that comes along.”
It’s a very complicated process of both research and invention that serves young Thomas well as he goes about his business on a host of casting calls for big budget studio films starring top comedic stars right down to learning about cinnamon toast for a commercial for a leading foods company.
Thomas’ penchant for preparation is paying off, as his young career is bubbling after a flurry of casting calls recently. “As a young actor, I try to make my audience feel what I feel …whether its sympathy for a character I am playing, or laughter because he’s funny, or maybe fear if he is creepy.”
“ It’s a challenge always,” he said. “I do not want to appear like I am like some other actor -- so I work hard to make the characters I’m auditioning for ones no one has seen before.” I have to thank my Hollywood acting teachers, Kris Kyer and Helen Anzalone for helping me understand and experience what a young actor goes through to do a successful audition.”
“Right now,” Thomas said, “I am ready for a big part in a big movie and I cannot wait to get on the set and learn more. You just have to learn to be persistent and have patience in this business, which I tell myself.”
His credits include the independent movie Entropy and also Autumn in Warsaw, for European television. Born in Chicago and a world traveler, Thomas has seen nearly all of the USA, portions of Europe and the Caribbean too. He is bi-lingual, with a fluency in Polish, his parent’s native land. Thomas lives with his family in Burbank, California, right next door to such major studios as Warner Brothers, Disney and NBC.
“I am so lucky to be here…I tell myself that every day.”
